Vermont Wallpaper Company was founded by Elan, a contractor based in North Ferrisburgh who has spent his career learning what it means to do finish work well.

He studied environmental engineering, but was always drawn to his hands. His father was a chef and restaurateur — and Elan grew up in the kitchen, absorbing what it looks like when someone takes their craft seriously. Construction came in college. His own company, Philo Construction, came after. In time, the work found its focus: wallpaper installation and finish carpentry — the details that define a finished room.

Transforming a room means more than hanging new paper. It means removing what's there, repairing the walls beneath, adding or refining the trim, and finishing every surface to the same high standard. Most homeowners coordinate a carpenter, a painter, and a paper hanger to get there. Vermont Wallpaper Company does all of it — which means one point of contact, one eye overseeing the whole, and a finished room that holds together from baseboard to ceiling.

For several years he has traveled each season to Jackson, Wyoming, taking on designer-led residential projects. He is now building that same practice here in Vermont.
